Sanwa GTN-R Square Mod Type I Restrictor Gate Insert is designed for the Sanwa GT-8X Square Restrictor Gate and provides a unique feel from a typical square gate; its corners are rounded, offering a hybrid round/square approach.
Compatible with Sanwa JLX, JLF
This product includes both the Sanwa GT-8X Square Restrictor Gate and color-coded insert. That combination allows you to swap the original gate in either the original Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick or newer SANWA JLX-TP-8YT Joystick.

Great new design.
I wasn't actually aware of the new restrictor plates. I love that they don't have those plastic leaf springs that snap off. It's way easier to swap different kinds of gates. I actually like the notches on the gate, because I can feel that I'm on the gate, and maybe should just ease off a bit. I do prefer just regular square gates though. They're perfect for pac-man. Grooves are great but plastic feels different
First off the gate fits great in my many years old JLF. No complaints in terms of compatibility or ease of installation. The new grooves in this restrictor's cardinal directions are much more subtle than I expected. They're much less noticeable than the gate's corners. The change is moreso that it feels physically easier to locate and harder to leave the cardinals which is perfect for assisting in execution. My only complaint is that the gate feels a bit softer than the original square gate. It's not a horrible sensation but I prefer the more solid feeling of the stock gate's plastic.
